	Mr. Vegas coming to Kenya!   Going by the open concert calendar of raga great Mr. Vegas in December, it is possible the unconfirmed rumors about the ‘Heads High’ star coming to this country to perform are true. A source privy to the information whispered to us: “Mr. Vegas will be headlining the Jipange Generation charity event on December 6.” The concert is a charity event seeking to mobilize the         youth to stand and know their HIV        status. It’s funded by The Ford Foundation. The event is being touted as the biggest of its sort ever held in Kenya, with 16 of East Africa’s biggest performing artistes, five of the most hard-hitting MCs and five of Kenya’s top DJs set to be on stage at Uhuru Gardens
	Bobi Wine speaks out on rape accusations   Last week the Ugandan press claimed that Bobi Wine had allegedly raped an 18-year-old girl in the parking lot of a night club. Bobi decided to clear the air with an interview with The Monitor, where he denied the claims, saying: “I read the story in the papers but I don’t know anything about it. I don’t even know the girl they are saying I raped. Honestly, what married man would tell a newspaper that he has a private affair with some girl like the story states? That is absolute nonsense! I’m a happily married man with a family to look after. I don’t care if people want to tarnish my name because I’m internationally known as a bad man, but they should at least respect my marriage. I was so heartbroken to hear such false accusations.” It is said that Bobi was teary-eyed for most part of the interview. He went on to say, “I have done a lot to make this country proud, but I wonder if that’s the way I should be paid back. They should produce the person I raped.”  When asked what he thinks about his rival Chameleone buying an Escalade, he said, “Listen, I’m an artiste who works in the ghetto and works very hard to achieve whatever I achieve. I have inspired so many people to do things, so when Chameleone buys an Escalade, I congratulate him. We have heard of he likes of Bebe Cool, who has been dreaming of driving a Hummer for the last four years. Maybe by the time he buys one I will be on another level because even now I’m no longer into buying cars. I’m shopping for a chopper. I’m buying it to annoy those people who want to destroy my career.
	ONYI PAPA too high for show   Last Sunday night, Ohangla star Onyi Papa J was supposed to perform at Zanze Bar, but apparently he was too high to stage a show. Onyi was scheduled to get on stage at 9pm but he got there earlier and was received well by revelers who bought him rounds of beer. When it came time to entertain the fans, he did not get past his first number. “He vomited and was taken outside while people were waiting for him to compose himself. They did not know that he was too far gone to get back on stage again,” said a disappointed reveler, adding that “a cab was called and he left.” When the crowd realized that the Ohangla singer wasn’t making a re-entry on stage, they caused quite a furor and demanded their money back. Luckily the angry crowd caused no damage in the club.
	Lady JD and hubby Gardner split!   Bongo diva Lady Jay Dee is rumored to have split with her radio presenter hubby Gardner. Fuelling the speculation on their marriage split is the fact that JayDee no longer wears her wedding band and Gardner hasn’t been seen at their home in weeks, reports Ijumaa newspaper. A source close to the singer is quoted as saying: “I have known JayDee for a long time and I have never seen her remove her ring. She is dedicated to her marriage and she has never had any problems with Gardner.” When contacted, a hostile JayDee told the Tanzanian reporter: “Tell your source to give you more details.” Gardner simply responded to the allegations with a cool, “No comment.”
	Wyclef to appear in Nairobi   We already gave you word that L.A rap star The Game might be showing up in Nairobi to perform at the Nov15 ‘Road to MAMA’ show. Now there’s more. Nothing is confirmed yet, but our snoop, who is very close to the organizers of the Kisima Awards, has revealed that rapper Wyclef Jean might be the surprise artiste for the November29 awards ceremony. The Kisima Awards are scheduled to be held at Finance Minister John Michuki’s own Windsor Golf Club, Nairobi. If all goes as planned, the former Fugee will be in the country to headline the show. However, Jonas Situma, the awards’ Head of Media Relations and Logistics, was non-commital and simply wrote in an email to us: “Concerning Wyclef, we might even pull bigger surprises than what you are thinking, so watch out for a bigger and bolder Kisima this year.”
	LIVONDO extorted!     Mr. Stanley ‘Moneybags’ Livondo on Wednesday night got a chance to spend a little of the money he constantly claims to have. A Kibera-bound matatu waylaid him at the bus stop opposite Serena Hotel when the driver of the vehicle recognized him. “The driver blocked the Mheshimiwa’s new silver Range Rover with TZ plates and asked him to pay for some of his constituents,” said a source. Being an acclaimed Bwana Moneybags, one would think that he would have easily parted with a K, seeing as he once bought a bull for thrice its price. Well, not this time. Livondo dished out a KSh500 note to the eager conductor who had walked up to him. Turns out the KSh500 was just enough for the four passengers who were in the matatu at the time. Anyone who was unfortunate to walk in after that had to foot their own fare. Have Mheshimiwa’s fortunes dwindled, or the current inflation rates no longer find him in a ‘bullish’ mood!
	Ray C to marry Lord Eyez   Tanzanian Diva Rehema Chalamila, better known as Ray C, is said to have kissed and made up with her ex, rapper Lord Eyes of the Nako 2 Nako rap clique.   Their patching up came after their reported falling out a few months ago. The songstress revealed, “Yes, we have had our problems but my haters have been adding salt to the issue, aggravating it. Small arguments don’t necessarily mean we can’t get married. Our love is stronger than that.”   Meanwhile, Ray C plans to launch her new album Touch Me, which features Kenyan artistes Wyre and Redsan.               Professor J campaigning in DRC   Tanzania’s Professor J (Joseph Haule) is campaigning for votes in the DR Congo.   It is not a political campaign. The rapper is chasing after regional votes for the Best Hip Hop Act category of the MAMA (MTV Africa Music Awards). He is running against the likes of The Game and Lil’ Wayne.   To promote his act, MTV and Tanzanian company Global Publishers are taking him on a ‘campaign tour’ of the DRCongo to campaign and ask for more votes from his fans. Tanzania’s MTV rep, Christine Mosha aka Seven, confirmed the reports.             Z Anto weds Binti Kiziwi   Baby-faced bongo singer Z Anto has secretly wed his hot fox video girlfriend only identified as Sandra, who played Binti Kiziwi in his most popular video.   “The wedding was a hush-hush affair and it was done during the holy month of Ramadhan at night in Dar es Salaam, at the bride’s home” said our source.   When Sandra was contacted about their secret nuptials, she chose to remain mum but referred reporters to Z Anto.   When reporters caught up with Z Anto, he flatly denied the story only to be confronted with the fact that a local newspaper had already obtained photos of the wedding
	Was Chameleone Drunk     The mystery behind Chameleone’s injuries last week, which left him with both legs broken, has holes punched all over it.     A man claiming to be the artiste’s promoter in TZ claims that the singer was involved in driving accident and was beaten up, although Chameleone denied the claims when asked last Friday.     Patrick Busesa emailed Daily Monitor claiming to be a promoter and alleged that Chameleone was supposed to perform in Arusha on Oct3 but was arrested by security personnel for drunk driving and speeding on the night of Oct2.     “The concert had sold out, but when we rang him (Chameleone), he was nowhere to be found,” said Busesa in his email.     “Security then rang us the next day and said that they were holding Chameleone after he was caught driving under the influence.”     Busesa also said they found Chameleone weak and they agreed that the concert be postponed to Oct19.     When the newspaper contacted him, Chameleone said he doesn’t know anybody called Busesa.     The singer referred Daily Monitor to Joseph Kusaaga; a tycoon whom he said took him to Arusha for the concerts.     Mr. Kusaaga told DM that Mr. Busesa is a hoax and was not Chameleone’s promoter.   He did not however comment about the cause of Chameleon’s injuries.
	Prof J’s Cats fight     The rumor ills are reporting that Bongo artiste Professor J’s Kenyan girlfriend Miriam had a run in with his legit girlfriend, former Miss Mara 2005 Rashida Wanjara. The incident is said to have occurred recently at the Oysterbay pub in Dar es Salaam.     According to a source, Rashida was tipped off on her phone that Prof J was in the pub with Miriam. Rashida then assembled five of her girlfriends and then went to the club in a taxi to confront ‘the mistress’.     Rashida and her gang are said to have pounced on Miriam and gave her a serious beating.   Professor Jay, on seeing that it was a losing battle, fled the scene leaving Miriam at the mercy of the six.     Rashida is said to have passed out at some point during her confrontation but her cohorts took care of business. The women took poor Miriam out of the club and drove away with her.     Miriam is however safely back in Nairobi.     When reached for comment, Rashida simply said, “That’s not exactly how it went down, but whatever experience we put her through, that b**** had it coming.”
	LUCIANO’S nephew assaults radio presenter     Slapping journalists is not the way to go in search of good PR.   After the end of his reggae concert early on Saturday morning, Luciano’s nephew Ragga Locks slapped radio presenter Sister Locks backstage.     Said a source that saw the whole thing: “The lady works for the Pamoja FM radio station. She had appeared to be part of the star’s entourage when they arrived for the concert.”     An angry Ragga Locks apparently did not like something Sister Locks had said to him and so he slapped her.     The venue’s security reacted swiftly and shielded Sister Locks from further attack, hustling her out of the tent.   The angry artiste was then heard shouting to his detail not to let the presenter into any of the cars in the entourage.     The incident happened at 4:30 am at Nairobi’s Splash Water World.
	TID raped in jail   Tanzanian singing sensation TID, 26, is suggesting that he may have been sexually harassed in jail.     According to reports by the Tanzanian press corps who visited him at Segerea prison last Sunday, TID, who has been behind bars since he was found guilty of assault by the courts, was in bad shape and looks nothing like his former self.     The reports quoted TID, who has 10 months left to serve, as saying: “The strong can do anything they want to the weak. When I first got here, they said that I’m mummy’s boy, that night they attacked me, beat me up and did things to me. You would think they had a grudge against me. They openly showed me that they did not like me at all. I was stunned, because they did things to me that are shameful to narrate.”     TID, who sang the chart-topping ‘Siamini’, has become thin and grey-haired.     However, there is a chink of light in the darkness that surrounds him. He told the reporters that, “The beatings and the bulling are fewer since I got a protector-one of the prisoners-whom I sing to at night till he falls asleep.”     Ending his tale of woe, TID told reporters: “Life in prison is hard for those who are not used to it. Those who live here are half-human, half-animal, many have ruthless hearts.”     A prison guard confirmed that TID was indeed beaten up from time to time, but that he was being beaten less frequently now that he got himself a ‘friend’.
	Esther a Gold-Digger   The Tusker Project Fame 2 winner, Miss Esther ‘The Body’ Nabaasa, joined the singles club for one minute before she hooked up with rich boy Julius.   According to reports published in Ugandan papers, the bodylicious songstress dumped her broke boyfriend Tony to hook up with ‘Mr. Moneybags’ tycoon Ben Kavuya’s son Julius Kavuya.   Word has it the rich-girl-poor-boy dilemma led to Esther calling it quits, and uttering the dreaded ‘it just couldn’t work out anymore’, adding that they should just ‘be friends’.   A mean insider revealed, “Broke Tony was determined to keep the relationship going, but Esther, being the A-lister she is, opted out.” Esther and Julius are said to have been friends for the last three years while Julius has been in South Africa.
	MAJIMAJI Evicted   Months after a controversial robbery report at hip-hop producer-cum-rapper MajiMaji’s 4Play Record Studios at Hazina Towers, the producer is once again facing the wrath of auctioneers. They raided the premises with an eviction notice. Ruthless and not willing to compromise, the auctioneers who walked into the premises shortly after 10am last Thursday, left with the recording equipments and everything else that was in the room. By the time out paps arrived at the premises, the auctioneers were loading the equipment in a waiting pick up together with items belonging to another evicted tenant. We could not establish the cost of the equipment.   However, inside sources within the Hazina Towers management informed us that the evicted tenants had defaulted on payments for over 3months, and amount estimated at KSh160, 000.   And when contacted, Maji downplayed the incident saying he was planning to set a new studio in Nairobi’s Buruburu Estate.   “I am looking for a place to set up a studio in Buruburu and this should be ready in two weeks. We have completely re-branded. We have a new logo and we are planning to start a fresh,” he told us through a telephone interview. We also confirmed that, apart from Habib ( the late E-Sir’s bro), the producer has now broken ties with all the other artistes who had been recording in his studio.   “I plan to bring in new artistes and to be more organized. I am looking forward to working with Bongo Flava artistes,” he concluded
	LUCIANO IN NAIROBI     As you all probably know the legendary reggae music maestro Luciano is in Nairobi and will be performing tonight at the Splash Waterworld. What annoys, however, is how negative a picture our media presenters who interview these international artistes portray of our country. There was Ja Rule, then P-Square, both interviewed by the ignoramus Andrew Siro(pictured), and now Luciano, interviewed by Christine.   Honestly speaking, couldn’t KTN’s Str8 Up show find a more ignorant presenter to tackle ‘Jah’s Messenger’ Luciano?   The ultimate gaffe was when Christine asked Luciano to “tell us more about your beef with Lil’ Wayne!”   Few people have ever seen such a well-known Rasta man look so confused. The look on Luciano’s face was priceless. Thank God for the abrupt commercial break that saved the poor Jamaican.   And as if that wasn’t enough, the shameless Christine stuck her foot further into her big mouth when she wanted to know how Luciano felt about singing alongside Beyonce in her hit single ‘Baby Boy’. Not even a commercial could salvage the situation. The momentary silence in the studio was broken when Luciano’s compatriot Ragga Lox stepped up and cleared the matter that it was Sean Paul who featured in the diva’s song.   Christine just laughed off the mistake.   What a shame.   I guess all the angered reggae fans can be consoled at the ‘Peace Concert’ tonight where Luciano is expected to ‘bring down the house’, as he put it. He will perform with his own live band accompanied by fellow reggae greats Mickey General(pictured), Ragga Lox and Living Truth, among others.   The event is sponsored by Zain and co-organized by Levity Crew and Lion Sounds.
	BEEF IZ RAW!     Last week we told you of the public death threats that Kimya was dishing out to Mwafrika and Muki Garang. Well, it is emerging that the beef stems from interests aside from the crown of ‘Lyrical King’.   It’s a battle between Buddha Blaze and conscious hip-hop head Muki Garang over the WAPI (Words and Pictures) event ownership.RECAP: Last Saturday’s WAPI event held at the British Council saw Ukoo Flani ally Kimya-who is Bamboo’s younger brother-bite more than he could chew. The rapper took to the stage backed up with Sharama spoiling for war. He went for freestyle ‘king’ Mwafrika’s jugular-calling him all sorts of names. “F*** those b**** n***** Mwafrika and Muki Garang. They are both f***** up. I will kill….”   He charged at the crowd spitting unprintable words that expressed hate for Muki and Mwafrika, leaving onlookers baffled.   In a flash, the angered crowd cornered Kimya and bundled him out of stage. The event came to a sudden halt as police streamed in to contain the unrest. The 4pm incident saw everyone leave including graffiti artistes and fans who had arrived as early as 10am.   Kimya was whisked away by his friends as he pleaded with fans.   “I would like to appeal for calm from our fans, supporters and friends,” he said. And when we contacted Mwafrika last Tuesday, the rapper-cum-radio presenter did not mince his words saying that Kimya cannot rap.   “It is a mismatch,” he said.   Apparently,the beef started two years ago when Muki made unkind comments about gangsta rappers. And Kimya, who had attended WAPI events, took the remarks personally. “There has been bad blood between the two,” added Mwafrika.     Recently, Mwafrika was a judge in regional MC Africa in which Kimya participated but failed to qualify. “He heaped all the blame on me but he can’t rap. He is a dismal equation in this industry. If he wants to challenge me then I can advice him to invite 50 of his finest rapper friends for a battle, including his brother. I will even pay for the studio time. Or is he calling for attention so that I can buy him weed, alcohol and the kind of assortments small boys like him thrive on,” ranted Mwafrika.   He terms Kimya’s move to take the whole WAPI beef to the airwaves as bull crap.   “I hear he has ganged up with Albert Josiah (Hot FM) and Buddha Blaze, but all I can tell them is that this game doesn’t work like that. People judge my rhymes and know that Kimya and I are worlds apart. May I supply him with real rhymes?” posed Mwafrika.   A year ago there was a major altercation between Muki and Blaze. Muki (pictured: in the background Mwafrika plays dead for their video shoot of 'Justice')alluded that WAPI was his brainchild yet ‘outsiders’ such as Blaze were now calling the stakes claiming it was their project.   When contacted, WAPI events manager Blaze said Muki and Mwafrika had moved out of WAPI because they had ideologies different from those of the British Council, which supports the event.   “They behave like they always owned the event but that wasn’t the case. It is only that they were a bit visible….   “Listen, it’s either they don’t understand the demography of the game (underground hip-hop) or they are spoiling for beef with me. Call Eve Kiilu of the British Council and get the whole truth about WAPI,” said an agitated Blaze.   But our efforts to contact Eve Kiilu were fruitless.   Meanwhile, the showdown continues!
	JUMA NATURE busted drinking during Ramadhan     This bongo sensation recently came under fire when he was busted by Tanzanian newspaper Amani taking alcohol during the Holy month of Ramadhan.   Juma, who is Muslim by birth, knows that it is prohibited to indulge in alcohol during this period.   However, he didn’t look remorseful when he was busted at his home pub in Temeke, Dar es Salaam.   He told off the reporter, saying, “Have you come to see whether I am drinking alcohol or have you come to find out about my music? That said, no one can follow up on my life as we all have our own lives to live.   Everyone worships God and I am worshipping in my own way- that’s why I am blessed in my work.”
	ABBAS APOLOGISES TO FIANCE’S PARENTS     Hip-Hop star Abbas Kubaff, who is expected to tie the knot with his fiancé Baby Gangsta, has retracted remarks he made to the effect that he knows Baby G better than her parents. “My fiancé’s parents were furious about the remarks. They asked me how I could know their daughter better than they do.” The parents were in Nairobi a week ago to finalize initial plans for the November 1 wedding.
	Wahu Plagiarized     In what could easily turn into an ugly tussle, the Tanzanian press is accusing bongo flavor artiste turned Taarab singer Q-Chillah (TID's brother)of stealing lyrics off Wahu’s runaway hit ‘Sweet Love’. In a telephone conversation with a Tanzanian paper, Wahu is quoted as saying that she is surprised Q-Chillah’s song sounds very much like hers. Wahu is threatening to take the matter up with her lawyer. Meanwhile, Q has denied plagiarizing Mrs. Mathenge’s track. “This is a serious matter. If Wahu is coming with her lawyer to the country, that doesn’t scare me because I have full rights to my song. I’m not a copycat. I’m good at what I do, it’s my talent,” he said.
	Bebe Very UnCool     Controversial reggae star Bebe Cool once again lost his cool and almost beat up a paparazzi he suspected of stealing his phone at Steak Out joint in Kampala. Bebe gave a mouthful of insults to UK/Ugandan Eyecon magazine proprietor and paparazzi James Walakira. Bebe Cool called in security and ordered them to throw Walakira out but the bouncers decided to first search him to find out if he really had Bebe’s phone before showing him the door.
	Beef in Bongoland     Beef is in the offing between Mwana FA( pictured with compatriot AY) and Inspekta Harun (Harun Kahena) of TMK Wanaume Halisi. The two rap heavyweights are in collision course after Harun released a song, ‘Ndoa Haina Doa’, a reply to FA’s track ‘Bado Nipo Nipo’. Harun says that he decided to take on Mwana FA’s song because not all married women are unfaithful. Mwana FA’s track tells of how women are unfaithful and that he has not yet found any girl who is faithful to walk down the aisle with. Earlier this year, Harun replied to Mheshimiwa Temba’s track ‘Mwaka wa Shetani’ with ‘Hakuna Mwaka wa Shetani’.
	MC Beef takes new dimension     There was drama during last week’s British Council WAPI event, which saw rapper Kimya escorted out of the venue by policemen after irate fans hollered for his blood for uttering profanities and issuing gangster threats to both Muki Garang and Mwafrika. Mwafrika and Muki have since shed light on the reasons why Kimya went off on them. In a circulated email, Muki is quoted as saying, “I understand the reason for expressing your dissent; practice extreme calm in these trying moments, Mwafrika and I are contributing towards the culture and society. Kimya, your quest for fame has blinded you. In addition you are not a gangster, you are a broke delusional Nairobi rapper. You have finally received airtime from me. Now you are famous.” While Mwafrika writes, “The fans took it as disrespectful of Kimya to dis the very people who gave him a forum and platform to showcase his talent. His beef stems from the fact that I was one of the judges at the Channel O Emcee Africa competition, and when he was voted out he thought I was undoing.”
	Man Behaving Badly An editor with a monthly sports magazine who graced this space after drinking himself silly and getting stripped naked by thugs is at it again! The guy was busted by his fiancée, the mother of his ‘other baby’ on Saturday night at a club in Westlands. Earlier in the night, the scribe had told his wife that he had a night assignment to attend to. On getting wind of his whereabouts, the wife sneaked in the club after midnight only to find her man drunk and canoodling another girl. Agitated, the fiancée hit the editor and broke his eye glasses, bringing the club to a standstill. The other girl, who works for an outstanding PR firm, got saved from the woman’s wrath by the club bouncers. Apparently, the fiancée has now called off their engagement and has reportedly moved out of their Westlands house. 	Professor J's Major Woes Bongo Flava's foremost emcee Professor Jay landed at Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Airport in Dar es Salaam minus his sibling Black Rhino and the rest of his crew.It is alleged that as Prof J was enjoying his flight back home,his brother and crew were wading through the dark alleys of Nairobi's River Road,trying to catch the night bus home.Prof J's brother had accompanied him for a gig at Rock City Gardens(Kiambu).It is understood that the rapper had previously pleaded with the show organizers to get his brother and his security detail return tickets,but it was not part of the contract.The organizer declined to dig deeper into his pockets."We had only booked for his flight because he did not tell us he was coming over with his brother.If he had,we would have made prior arrangements to get them both air tickets,"said the organizer
	Wiwy's Wild Night Out Upcoming sensational singer Wiwy dramatically escaped a robbery late Monday night as she rode home. The sassy singer had been having drinks earlier with a friend before leaving the club shortly at 12:30am . She hired the services of a taxi to drive her home. But halfway, the taxi driver stopped to pick another passenger whom, according to her, the driver claimed was a close friend, but he turned out to be a robber. It took her craftiness to fight back as the thug ordered the artiste to hand over everything she had including her mobile phone and handbag or else he would kill her. “I suspected that the two had arranged the prank to rob me. As the car slowed down, I hid my mobile phone and pleaded with the thug to spare my life. As the two started arguing, I jumped out and escaped. I guess they panicked and suddenly they drove off,” an emotional Wiwy told us at 1:30 am , an hour after the incidence. It’s also funny how the police officer I contacted behaved as though his phone went off before it went on again after 15 minutes.” The singer says the taxi bore number plates KAP 228F. By the time we were going to press, investigative officers were already following on the matter. Two weeks ago, Wiwy lost her mobile phone in a similar incident.
	Johnny Falls For Event Boss Love is in the air for Skani Flani’s leading act, Johnny, and a Mombasa-based events organizer. The two were inseparable during the Zumari Awards which the events organized was part of. Severally, the lady, known as Beryl, was heard referring to Johnny as ‘my boy’, she also had him served dinner at the VIP table. When morning came, Johnny abandoned his colleagues and opted to wait for Beryl. They left together at 7am and resurfaced at 5pm.

	Shame On Him A night turned too long after a prolific witty male radio presenter recently failed to achieve a clandestine mission with a celebrity model. The radio presenter who handles an afternoon show and the girl met at Carnivore Restaurant where they were hanging out separately. It was then when the high profiled presenter (who has a long term girlfriend0 suggested that the two drive to Florida Mad House and dance the night away. The beauty obliged but to her shock, her partner drove through to a Nairobi hotel, hid his car in an alley and went ahead to pay for KShs 5,000 hotel room. They went up the room but the girl insisted she wanted to go home. On getting to the room, the dude spread himself on the bed asking the model girl to join him. But she refused and even resisted as he tried to force her to undress. The girl ended up shouting, getting the attention of the security personnel who then stormed into the hotel room. As the presenter got busted, the girl made her way out of the hotel leaving the guy puzzled.
