Kingston in Dar for KMA

Jamaican-American teen rap Sean Kingston arrived in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday ahead of this weekend’s concert, which will be the climax of this year’s annual Kilimanjaro Music Awards.

 

The Fire Burning and Face Drop singer caused a major stir at Nyerere International Airport and at his residential Club Bilicanas  where he was expected to host a cameo show last night. It is the first time the singer is visiting East Africa.

 

Top Tanzania artistes have been nominated includingLady Jaydee, Mwasiti, Mwasiti Mwaunda Zoro, Khadija Yusuph, Vumilia for Best Female Artiste. Divas Ray C Nakaaya and K- Lynn did not make it to the list. The Best Male category is a contest among little known Christian Bella, Marlaw, Banana Zoro, Mzee Yusuph and Ali Kiba.

Mangwair, Chidi Benz, Joh Makini, Fid Q and Quick Racka have been nominated for the top Hip- Hop song.

Artiste category is contested by Professor J, Mangwea, Joh Makini, Fid Q and Chidi Benzi.

Matonya, Hamedi and AY will battle it out in the category for the Best Reggae song for their tracks Umoja Ni Nguvu, Alcohol and Leo respectively. The Best Ragga category sees the likes of Dully Sykes and Bwana Misosi making a comeback. The ceremony will be graced by R&B singer Sean Kingstone.
