The singer has been dragged to police by the Onion tabloid scribe Desire Ndyomugabe who he thumped nearly to coma over a story, published last week. With two colleagues; Claude Muhigirwa (Red Pepper) and Pidson Kareire (New Vision) as witnesses, Ndyomugabe opened up a case at Jinja Road Police station under file number SD: 03/22/01/2010.
Police has confirmed; 'Chameleon is wanted'. The singer allegedly committed the offence in the wee hours of Friday at Industrial area based Angenoir. With the help of his body guards, he thumped the victim, claiming they (Onion) had hammered him a ‘killer’ story in that previous day’s edition. The story, titled “Chameleon Dumps Naila In Mabira” enraged the musician who was reading it as the scribes emerged from the nearby Club Silk where they had been for Pole Dancing.
“We found Chameleon leaning against his car, reading the paper and he beckoned us. His goons arrived just as we approached. The next thing I knew, I was on the ground, where I lay bleeding,” Desire wrote in his statement. Police chief publicist Judith Nabakooba confirmed the existence of the case but declined to delve into details.
