PAMOJA Mtaani, the action-based videogame pilot launched in 2008 aimed at fighting AIDS to create a HIV-free generation, won an international award.
The behavior change videogame created by Warner Bros. won the Global Business Coalition’s Business Excellence Award at the awards dinner in Washington DC.
Pamoja Mtaani tells the story of five East Africans: Judy the Med Student, Sean the Techie, Lefty the footballer, Lady D the musician, and George the tout, as an everyday ride turns catastrophic when their bus is hijacked.
Each individual experiences a loss, and the five strangers must come together in a quest for justice.
It became a big hit after big names in the Kenyan music scene were involved in its production. They include Jua Cali, Wyre & Atemi who lent their voices to the video game, Ennovator who produces the soundtrack, and reknowned playwright Catejan Boy who helped with the story line.The videogame was rolled outin 3 major youth centers: The National Youth Service HQ, The Hope Worldwide Center in Mukuru, and Micato Safaris and St. mary’s Church also in Mukuru.
Pamoja Mtaani was Warner Bros’ first such project in Africa and was sponsored by the US President’s Emergency Plan for Aids Relief (PEPFAR)
