Bongo Flava artiste Khalid Salum Mohamed popularly known as TID has been jailed for one year after a Dar es Salaam court convicted him on Wednesday for causing grievous harm to a city resident.According to a report carried by 'Daily News',the Kinondoni Resident Magistrate Hamis Kalombola said the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that the musician committed the offense.It was alleged that the artiste committed the offense on July 2,2007.The court heard that on the fateful day at Slip Way in Masaki area,Kinondoni District,the musician assaulted Mashiba,causing him serious injuries on the head and left arm.Prosecutor Benedict Nyagabona asked the court to mete a severe punishment to the musician to serve as a lesson to others who might want to take the law into their own hands.In mitigation,TID prayed for mercy,claiming that he was drunk on the fateful day."I beg you your honor to pardon me because my family and especially my mother depend on me for their survival,"he said in a low voice.However,his plea landed on deaf ears as the magistrate said that since he could not control himself when drunk,prison could be the best place for him so that he could be a better citizen while there.After the sentence was read out,the seemingly puzzled artiste,his mother,relatives and friends broke into tears as he was being led away to the waiting bus by the no-nonsense prison wardens.As he was entering the prison bus,the musician fainted and was helped by fellow prisoners.Before the court session began,TID arrived in a convoy of two expensive vehicles and friends who escorted him
